I bought two cushions from you in September / October last year
for my BMW 1150 GS SE. My girlfriend and I were initially
sceptical of their effectiveness but the standard seat was
giving us some real problems on even shortish (400km) rides. We
rode 17,000kms in Australia with our AirHawks, including 800 and
1100km days and we know this would have been pretty well
impossible without them. I had also been experiencing some
significant back pain before using the cushion and one visit to
a Chiropractor. I am sure the cushion made a significant

With the approach of my seventieth birthday, it was time for a
change to a more manageable machine. My choice was a 500cc machine,
but unfortunately it proved uncomfortable. Select Cycle Supplies
quickly responded to my order for an AirHawk
comfort seating system. Having now covered 500 + kms I am happy to
report that this has completely transformed what was a painful
experience. It will allow me to continue with my planned trip to
Tasmania in 2006 for the Ulysses convention, without this seat I
would not have considered such a long ride.

I went for a ride last Sunday from Mount Isa to McKinlay & back,
all-round distance of 440km. Recorded temperature for Sunday was 41
degrees, bitumen temp. mid 50's. The AirHawk
seat
performed very well, I did not experience the normal pain in the
butt sensation that I get with or without my sheepskin seat cover on
my GS1200. Being able to adjust the pressure to suit ones specific
needs, is a very good feature. I am certainly looking forward to my
future rides without having to move around on the seat to get
comfortable.

No more butt bruises. It's not often that we all agree on something
at Australian Road Rider, but during a recent ride to and from the
AGM in Canberra we came to the unanimous conclusion that the AirHawk
Comfort Seating System is the duck's guts.
All the bikes were very different but we can recommend the cushion
pretty much unreservedly. We didn't need to use the tie-up loops at
all; the grippy material that forms the base of the cushion held it
securely in place on all three bikes. I inflated the air cells
pretty much by guesswork before starting out, but we didn't feel the
need to change the pressure at all - not even when we changed it
over from bike to bike.
It's practical in other ways, too. If it gets wet I think it would
be a simple matter to dry off the air-cell inner and just wring out
the cover. If you need a soft seat when you get to where you're
going, the AirHawk will work just
as well on a bench or a camping stool as on the bike. And there's
even provision for ventilation to prevent heat buildup.

I would be happy to contribute to your testimonials on the
AirHawk seats. If you have visited my website (http://theoldbloke.homestead.com)
you'll know that I have a back problem that limits how far I can
ride. But I also have trouble with "pains in the posterior" on a
long ride.
Those pointy bones of the pelvis start to get
really sore. Recently I got one of your AirHawk
seats, and I can say that they really do work! I tried the seat on a
long ride, occasionally removing it to try it back-to-back (so to
speak!) with my usual removable sheepskin cover. And It really does
relieve the pressure on the points of the pelvis. Swapping back to
the sheepskin I could immediately feel the pressure on my bones.
Going back to the AirHawk,
even at the end of the ride, immediately removed the pressure (and
the pain!). It also smoothes out the ride. Those annoying little
bumps from patched bitumen etc that you always feel, even if not
harshly, just don't happen! So I can certainly recommend it for
anyone who suffers from pain in the nether-regions on long rides. It
will definitely allow me to ride further, and in greater comfort,
than was ever possible without it!

Tom, the Airhawk is great. After 8 months of
riding I can’t believe the difference in comfort. I don’t feel
anywhere near as fatigued and sore pressure spots have
disappeared on the longer rides. In fact I can even stay in the
saddle longer too! Overall I reckon it’s excellent.
